Who is Elaine Benes?

Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is Jerry’s ex who stuck around — the group’s fourth wall of sarcasm, questionable dancing, and sponge-worthiness assessments. She’s missing from the pilot: NBC executives told Seinfeld and David to add a woman or lose the renewal. She arrived in “The Stake Out” and immediately became the best argument the executives ever made.
